1 September – New York to London
Our first flight of the week was also one of the busiest, carrying 8 passengers and 13 pets across the Atlantic. The undoubted highlight was having our largest and smallest dog on the same flight: Honey, a 2kg Morkie, and Bailey, a 70kg Mastiff. The photo of the two of them settled on the same seat (pictured) needs no caption – it’s already a firm favourite around the office. Proof that Vicuna works for every passenger, no matter their size.
2 September – London to New York
A quicker turnaround for the return leg, carrying 6 passengers and 9 pets back across the Atlantic. As always, we made many new four-legged friends, including Diego, a French Bulldog. He charmed the crew into a mid-flight photograph, which was then quickly shared and admired across the team. The flight itself ran seamlessly as ever, and Diego spent much of it happily settled in for a nap.
3 September – Los Angeles to New York
There was a smaller group for this leg out of Los Angeles: 5 passengers, 3 pets and Seth, one of our Vicuna Concierges. Fewer passengers made for a calm cabin environment, much appreciated by both owners and pets alike. This was the first time Vicuna returned to the West Coast since June, and we very much look forward to welcoming further passengers on this leg soon!
3 September – New York to London
This was our busiest flight of the week: 10 passengers and 14 pets, making for a lively cabin all the way to London. Four of these pets, including Weasley the cat, travelled in Biscuit class without their owners on board. They were cared for throughout by our own Jamie and Seth, who were regularly able to update their appreciative owners.
5 September – London to New York
The week ended no less memorably. This flight from London to New York carried 8 human passengers and 11 pets, including a bernadoodle named Odysseus who our team took a particular liking to. Among these 11 furry passengers were two guinea pigs – a Vicuna first! Little Pig and Baby Pig were fed and looked after by the crew throughout the flight, given exactly the same level of care and attention as every other passenger on board. No matter the size or kind of animal, their journey matters too. Our own summary of the day put it well: "eight super happy clients", a fitting close to five very enjoyable days.
