Vicuna Air is a shared private aviation charter service for pets and their owners, flying together in the same cabin between London, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and now across Europe: Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Oslo. There are no cargo holds and no separation.
As of September, our European network reaches six cities along one of the busiest travel and relocation corridors in the world.
Why Northern Europe?
Northern Europe is in near-constant motion. People move around Europe for work, for family, for the life waiting at the other end – and, increasingly, they move with their pets.
It is one of the most travelled regions anywhere on the map. Yet for years, the only options for the animals making that journey were a small carrier beneath a seat or, for anything larger, the cargo hold.
The problem with how pets fly today
On most commercial airlines, a dog above a certain size travels internationally in the cargo hold – crated, in a pressurised but isolated compartment, for the length of the flight. The owner is separated from their companion entirely, often for many hours.
For an anxious dog, an older one, or a flat-faced breed for whom air travel carries genuine risk, it is rarely a comfortable prospect. For many owners, it is not an acceptable one.
We Took a Different View
"Northern Europe is one of the busiest travel and relocation corridors in the world, and for most pets that journey has meant hours alone in a cargo hold," said Jamie Everett, founder of Vicuna Air and a former RAF pilot. "We built Vicuna Air so it wouldn't have to be that way. On our flights, your pet travels beside you, not beneath you. They're not cargo. They're companions."
Where we now fly in Europe
Paris was our first European destination. From this autumn it is joined by Brussels, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Oslo and Stockholm – each served in both directions, and each connected to our wider network across the UK and the United States.
Dogs travel in the cabin on every route, settled beside their owners from departure to arrival, with chauffeured ground transport waiting at either end.
From the moment you enquire to the moment you reach your final destination, the journey is arranged for you. Door to door.
Flying From September
Our first flights serving the new European cities depart on the 16th of September, beginning in New York. A limited number of seats are available across the new routes, with private charter available worldwide on request.
